Are you suffering from IDF? Internet Dating Fatigue

You’ve read the stats about internet dating.  Everybody’s doing it and even though you’ve tried Match, E-Harmony or Lavalife, you still can’t find Mr. Right or Mr. Right-Now?

Just like dieting, maybe you need to change up your menu?  Why not add a couple of servings of something “niche”?  These fun alternatives to the main stream dating machines might be just what you need to get you back into your Man Zone.

Thread – How many times have you heard, “I met him through a friend?”.  This site uses Facebook Connect to let users browse “friends of friends”or second-degree Facebook connections for potential dates.  Log into
your Facebook account,  answer a few quick questions and then sort by gender and relationship status.  If you see someone who looks promising, you can ask a mutual friend for an introduction or simply send that person a Facebook message.  Don’t worry, your connections won’t be published to the Facebook stream unless you specifically request it.  (Free)

Radaroo is a Twitter based dating system that boasts 20-second sign up. Simplicity is the charm for the free service that lets users send a tweet to create a dating profile in 140 characters or less.  Sign up by sending a tweet to @radaroo, specifying gender, the gender(s) you’re interested in, and which activities you’d like to participate in on a first date. People can find out if a fellow Tweep is single by searching that person’s username.  Users can also search for all single members in their area by entering their zip code, or country code if outside the United States.  (Free)

WooMe lets you speed date online.  Users meet, see and hear people live using a webcam and WooMe’s optimized in-browser video and voice capability.  The beauty is that the dates are in real time, online for five-minute “speed sessions” where daters are “woo’d” by five new people.  Create a session on a particular topic, like “Los Angeles Surfers”, or join in one that’s already scheduled.  (Free to Register.  Packages $19.99 $39.99 or $59.94 for 1,3, 6 mos. memberships)

ScientificMatch Use your DNA to maximize the chances of finding chemistry—actual, physical chemistry—with your matches.  The company claims that benefits include: higher fertility and a more satisfying sex life with women enjoying a higher rate of orgasm.  No complaints there!  It also claims that women have a lower chance of cheating in their exclusive relationships. Uh, and what about the guys? ($1,995.95 for a Lifetime Membership)

Brainiac Dating offers you a selection of folks who think it’s sexy to be smart.  Apparently, you don’t need to have an IQ of 120 or pass any tests, just a creative and open mind.  (Free)

I Love Your Accent If you’re more turned on by what you hear than what you see, this site offers users the opportunity to socialize with like minded people across the pond, but also in the next City or State.  Although you might want to turn off the sound of the video loop, if music be your food of love; play on. (Free to Register $15-$85 for 1 – 12 mos memberships)
