If you watched Betty White’s SNL episode on Saturday night, you may have caught one of the highlights, a commercial for TV Land’s first scripted series, Hot in Cleveland.
Now before you get all huffy, Betty’s performance was as usual wonderful but the material they gave her to peddle? Meh. Muffins and Sambas are funny the first time but we definitely got the joke by the 3rd. Also not sure why sketches about sexual orientation are funny in 2010? Oh wait, they’re not.
Anyhoo, back to the sitcom which debuts June 16th with a 10 episode order and a fantastic cast including: Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick. Say it with me, O. M. G.
White will take on the role of the snarky but lovable Elka Ostrovsky, property caretaker of a home where Bertinelli, Leeves and Malick rent after their plane makes an emergency landing in Cleveland.
Hot in Cleveland is written by Emmy® Award-winning Suzanne Martin (Frasier, Ellen) and is produced by Emmy® Award-winner Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions which means the women are going to be a whole lot less whiney and pathetic then Jules Cobb on Cougar Town or Liz Lemon on 30 Rock.
Can’t wait.
