Author and teacher Robyn Gioia and Michael Gannon, of the University of Florida, have argued that the earliest “Thanksgiving” celebration in what is now the United States, was celebrated by the Spanish on September 8, 1565 in what we call Saint Augustine, Florida.
I’m guessing that unless they were 12-years-old or under, there wasn’t a singleton among them. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Being a single woman in North America these days is a good thing so even though the economy still sucks and so many of us are struggling, here’s what I’m giving thanks for this holiday season.
The air I breathe…
The water I drink…
The ability to walk, talk and think…
A roof over my head…
The love of a good dog…
Food in my fridge…
Friends to laugh (and cry) with…
What are you giving thanks for this holiday season?
