Spring/Summer Wardrobe Plan

The wind doesn’t exfoliate your cheeks with ice.  The ground is not blinding white.  Spring is almost here!  As websites, magazines, and stores bombard you with cool new clothing and accessories, now’s the time to approach your wardrobe bravely.  Try on:  your bathing suit(s), trench coat/lighter coats, spring/summer work shoes, shorts, going out wear both seasons, lighter purse/bag, work wear for both.  Repair or tailor gradually over a few paycheques and Goodwill/women shelter the rest.

Here are some fashion guru recommendations for what key pieces will zhuzh up your wardrobe.

Renae Virata of wearevertheweather.com, is an expert on what to wear fashionably for the weather.  She suggests two yummy warm weather items.  “A pair of tailored shorts, in white or a clean navy are great to start with. A pair of platform sandals–neutrals would elongate the leg, but a bright shoe would also be a fun option. ”

Nisonja McGary, founder of PrettyUnused.com, stylist to the stars, suggests two pics.  “Rompers are fun and can easily transition into seasons depending on fabric and color.  Tribal Prints are hot this season–and what better way to rock spring than in a tribal print inspired maxi dress. ”

Michele Little, of onechicmama.com, recommends two other pieces and agrees on spring’s warm orange/coral tone pop-ularity.  “A chic jacket, whether military style, a trench in one of season’s best brights like honeysuckle pink, salmon, or a vibrant orange–whatever is your best color. And something embellished – we’re seeing lots of texture this season, from studs to beads and animal prints.”

Rehn Dudukgian creates a line of vintage-inspired, handmade hats for those like me who wish they had a royal invite for April’s wedding.  “Adding a hat to ones wardrobe can be both practical and very stylish,” Rehn suggests, and looking at her witty designs, the royal “we” agrees.

Lori Ann Robison, a fellow sassy single gal and Image/Fashion Consultant suggests: “Anything striped- the nautical look is fun and fresh now. Colorful tops- this season is about adding a pop of color to your wardrobe, especially the brights. A wider leg jean is hitting this season, too.”

Any ideas what your closet will hold this spring?

Who am I? I am a suit with a mighty pen. While writing, I've lived in Africa, Asia, Europe and the good bits of North America. There aren't many hobbies I haven't tried and demonstrated breathtaking mediocrity. I look forward to sharing helpful financial tips and trends aimed at empowering your financial goals.
