PEOPLE Magazine reports that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have split.

The marriage was the third for 41-year-old Lopez, who was previously married to dancer Chris Judd and before that to waiter Ojani Noa. The marriage was the 2nd for 42-year-old Anthony.

Although the couple is quoted as saying, “This was a very difficult decision” and that they have reached “amicable conclusions on all matters”, it doesn’t feel all that surprising.

We’re not just talking about the awkward hug they shared onstage during the Idol finale, but hasn’t it always seemed like he loved her: more? He seemed to be just what she needed post Ben Affleck.

Now that her career is back up and running (if she sticks with Idol) and the pressure to have kids is off, maybe it’s easier to fly solo. Which begs the question, are some women just happier being single?
