According to the American Academy of Dermatology, 1 in 4 Americans ages 18 to 50 now has at least one tattoo. Now, so does Barbie. Tokidoki Barbie is edgy with pink hair, sky-high stilettos and her upper body is covered with a large flower — on her chest — and tiger curls up her neck.
Unlike Mattel’s “Totally Stylin’ Barbie” whose tattoos were stick-on and removable, Tokidoki’s are inked on and she’s considered a collectible sold only on Barbie’s collector’s site and retailing for $50. Even though you can’t find her in a toy store, some parents believe this Barbie sends the wrong message to little girls. What do you think?
