The drink will also have sugar, calories and all 23 flavors that are in regular Dr Pepper soda. I guess women aren’t into those things either. Funny, because I recall having sugar, calories and flavor in my coffee this morning.
And, if all that isn’t enough to appeal to the fellas, the company is also using some super manly commercials to market the product. The commercials will air during manly things, like sports. One even has some really muscular men battling snakes and bad guys with lasers. There is also a Facebook Page for men only. I kind of wonder what would happen if a woman actually joined.
It seems that no one is really worried about offending women. In fact, according to the article from CBS most people think this whole women vs. men theory is a way to get people talking about the product. I won’t deny that it has people talking, but that doesn’t mean people are buying it.
The funny thing is, I haven’t really heard anyone comment on how men feel about the product. I mean, the product is being targeted at them, right? So why is everyone just assuming they will eat it all up? Sure, it’s all kinds of manly. That is, if you enjoy the corny, cliche idea of manliness.
Honestly, as a woman, I can’t say that I am really all that offended by the manly soda marketing. I don’t really drink soda but I wouldn’t decide not to buy something because it’s targeted at men anymore than I would buy something because it’s targeted at woman.
